Enhanced Oil & Gas Recovery- Recent Advances & R&D Challenges

Date & Time: 21st July 2022; 10:00 am to 5:45 pm

Venue: Room No.21, 2nd Floor, VMCC, IIT Bombay

Brief Background

Globally, as crude production from most of the mature fields is declining and new hydrocarbon discoveries are not sufficient to match the growing energy demand, Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), is emerging as an important technique in enhancing global oil production and extracting more value from them. In the Indian context also, almost all the major oil fields, both onshore and offshore, have reached their mature stage and the production from these brown fields are declining fast and all the Oil companies have started focusing on various EOR techniques to arrest the decline, improve the recovery factor and prolong the economic life of these fields.

EOR helps to maximize the oil reserves recovered, extend the life of fields, and increase the recovery factor. It is an important tool for firms helping to maintain production and increasing the returns on older investments. It is a thermal or compositional transformation technique of either the hydrocarbons or reservoir rock to aid in the recovery of additional volumes.

Objective of the Event

The main objective of this event is to bring experts from industry and academia together, brainstorm, and identify the research advancement and challenges in the focused areas of Enhanced Oil & Gas Recovery.
