Introduction to the course:
In the recently concluded COP26 at Glasgow our Prime Minister announced a target for the Indian economy to move to Net Zero by 2070. The Industry sector accounts for a significant share of India’s carbon-dioxide emissions. Decarbonisation of Industry is a challenge and an opportunity for engineers and managers. The CoE-OGE has developed a five day training module to provide oil and gas sector professionals with the tools and techniques needed for this challenge.
Decarbonisation of any process can be achieved by improving the energy efficiency, changing the fuel mix (moving to renewables or nuclear), carbon capture and storage or modifying the process. This online course will provide basics of energy auditing, benchmarking, pinch and process integration, cogeneration as well as the state of the art of Carbon capture, utilisation and storage. The course will cover methods for carbon footprinting and economic calculations to estimate the marginal cost of saved carbon. A few case studies of efficiency and CCUS in the oil and gas sector will illustrate actual experiences. Course participants will be encouraged to share their ideas and develop practical suggestions for decarbonisation within their industry context.
