Introduction of the course:

The course aims to provide an overview of the various greenhouse gases (GHGs), their sources, and their impacts on the climate. The course also includes sessions on how to estimate the greenhouse gases emitted from any process and on potential mitigation strategies. The participants are requested to bring their laptops for the practice exercises during the course.

At the end of this course, the participants should be able to:

  1. Define terms such as greenhouse effect, global warming potential, and ozone depletion potential.
  2. Determine the GHG emissions for a basic process or activity.
  3. Perform basic life cycle modelling to estimate the energy and emission footprints.
  4. List the various mitigation strategies in the context of GHGs and climate change.
